Under the cut: Country singles, reviews of All That by Carly Rae Jepsen, Photograph by Ed Sheeran, Weekend Millionaires by Katelyn Tarver and Unbreakable Smile by Tori Kelly.
Out of the long list of actresses who have tried their hand at singing and songwriting, there are few who have actually established themselves as respected for their singing and songwriting alone. With her debut album, 15 year old (!) Sabrina Carpenter shows that she's well on the way to becoming one of those few. The album seems to contradict itself at points, presenting Sabrina from both an "I was born an old soul" and an "I'm young and I'm dumb, I do stupid things when it comes to love" point of view, which can come across pretty contradictory at points. The tracks that are more personal to Sabrina and are written by her are the best parts of the album, and are hopefully best indicative of the direction she'll be taking with her music in the future.
